To my understanding, GTA IV features both protection methods. So I can definitely understand why the OP would have issues with PA. 7 is what we're used to seeing, and is what I was referring to (read: isn't a big deal, at all), but PA does feature online activation, and that is the primary function of that protection method. Other than that, I could suggest you to uninstall Internet Explorer and it might work after that. You may also try using the Securom Diagnostic Tool. The latest versions of SecuROM are SecuROM 7 and SecuROM PA. Try to reinstall the VC++ libraries from the game disk, in GTA IV it was in redistributables folder. If that's incorrect, then I apologize for my prior statements, but to my knowledge the function of SecuROM is simply to impede methods of copying and using images based off SecuROM-protected media. Were currently providing more than 80,000 modifications for the Grand Theft Auto series. I presume you're talking about what happened with Bioshock/Mass Effect/Spore, but my understanding was that these were protection schemes coupled to SecuROM, and not typical SecuROM itself. GTAinside is the ultimate Mod Database for GTA 5, GTA 4, San Andreas, Vice City & GTA 3. You should really find out which one GTA IV is actually using before you decide which platform to get. They range from completely inoffensive to that ridiculous online limited activation bullshit. There are a lot of flavors of Securom available.
